Hair thinning or even hair loss is fairly common, it can occur for a variety of reasons. From genetics, nutrient deficiencies, your diet, stress, environmental pollution, styling products, or even just because you’re getting older.

If you’re bald, unfortunately the best way to get hair back is a transplant or medication, but if your hair is just thinning out, you still have time to fix it, here are some suggestions you can try to help thicken your hair.

DE-STRESS
One of the most common causes of hair thinning is stress. Every day, we all go through different experiences. Sometimes we overthink things or go through situations that overwhelm us. How can we de-stress without avoiding our circumstances? Here are a few ideas to help you get through your day that will make a difference.

  1. Wake up 15 minutes earlier from your daily regimen, and meditate.
  2. Before going to bed,  write about your thoughts, or what is overwhelming you.
  3. Exercise; can increase your blood flow and affect your mind, body and hair.
  4. Have enough sleep.
  5. Have 10 minute breaks in between your daily tasks.

DIET AND NUTRIENTS
It's critical to include good healthy foods or supplements in your daily diet because they provide our bodies with the nutrients they need to survive. It is beneficial to our organs, body, mind, and hair. Biotin, iron, zinc, vitamin E, and protein are the best nutrients for thickening your hair. Here are some foods that will give your hair the nutrients it needs to be healthy and thick.

  1. Legumes, Egg, mushrooms, avocado, and sweet potatoes are great foods to receive biotin.
  2. Beans, dark green vegetable leaves, red meat, nuts or even tofu to receive Iron.
  3. Whole Grains, Milk, oyster, lobster and dark chocolate to receive zinc.
  4. Vitamin E could help support a healthy scalp due to providing natural antioxidants. Nuts provide an amazing source of vitamin e for example almonds and peanuts. Another great source are sunflower seeds.
  5. Stay hydrated. The average amount of water a man should drink daily is about 3.7L a day.

 MAINTAINING YOUR HAIR
It is critical to have a hair routine; read Washing your Mane to learn why it is important not to wash your hair every day. There are numerous factors that can harm our hair, causing it to dry out and become brittle, as well as reduce the amount of hair that grows from our scalp. Here are some examples of what not to do.
  1. Using products right after you shower, or adding dry shampoo. Styling your hair with products right away doesn’t allow your hair follicles to breathe. If you must add products right away, have one or two days a week where you allow your hair to dry out without products.
  2. Do not dry your hair with a blow dryer or straighten your hair everyday. If you must, make sure to use heat protecting products and try to limit the amount of time you use heating tools.
  3. Do not just brush your hair, exfoliate it! Scalp massage brushes are amazing to use before shampoo or Jack dean Military Brush  when it's dry to help avoid dandruff and help drag your natural oils to the rest of your hair. This also helps to maintain the amount of oil you have on the roots of your hair. Too much oil clogs up, which is what we want to avoid.
  4. Believe it or not, but a shower filter is an amazing tool to have. Protects your skin and hair from dryness and irritation by eliminating chlorine and chloramine from the water. Chlorine is an agitator of a host of skin problems, exacerbating blemishes, acne, and also your hair.

 HOME HAIR TREATMENTS
A weekly hair treatment will work wonders on your hair, just make sure to stick to it. Consistency will make a difference here, so keep at it to see the results, this is not a "one and done".  There are a number of common items you might already have that can help infuse your hair with the nutrients it needs. All you need to do is warm them up, massage it on your scalp overnight and wash it the next day. Here are some oils you can use:
  1. Rosemary Oil
  2. Grape Seed Oil
  3. Coconut Oil
  4. Green tea
  5. Apple cider; keep in mind, to dilute apple cider with warm water.
