The traditional dinner and a movie date night is a classic for a reason, but it can become boring and repetitive after a while. Stay at home date nights, reminds you how exciting your relationship can be; you get to explore a moment you never expected and learn more about your partner.
Whether you plan your date together, 'you get this and I get that’ or you want to surprise each other. We created some fantastic, stay-at-home date nights to help you connect with your spouse and create more memories. Here are 5 suggestions to get you started!
I SCREAM, YOU SCREAM, WE ALL SCREAM FOR ICE CREAM!
This screams for a delicious date night! Purchase your favourite flavour of ice cream, a variety of toppings from sweets, salty treats, fruits, or random things you would never see on ice cream. Don't forget caramel or hot fudge! Here are some bonus ideas you can do while creating or eating your delicious sundae:
- Watch your favourite childhood movie while you eat it!
- Listen and dance to your favourite playlist.
- Play cards or even better, gamble!
Unplug, and turn off everything. Light up some candles; don't be shy to lay them around everywhere. I mean everywhere! Whether you order take out, make dinner or some snacks. Here are some ideas you can do in the dark:
- Think back to the past. As a child we loved to create forts. So why not do it now as an adult. Grab all your blankets, throw pillows and add some lights. Play your favourite board game or enjoy a movie together. Don't worry we wont tell no one your using the tv!
If you have a fire pit, enjoy some wine on the floor. Play, We're not really strangers card game. No fire pit? Turn on your tv, and search for a video of a fire pit on YouTube. It's okay, no one knows it's fake! If you want to enjoy a delicious treat try to create a S'more Casserole together.
Instead of going out to dinner, bring it home! Set up your dinner table, move some furniture and make a dance floor. Light up some candles, add fairy lights and turn off the lights. Listen to fancy music and enjoy the night. This will definitely make you say “I want to come back here again!”. Here are some creative ideas to add to the night:
- Karaoke and dance.
- Tasting night. With random choices of wine, beer, or dessert tasting.
- Make it a theme night. Pretend you're somewhere else in the world, France? Italy? Bahamas? Greece? And create dinners from wherever you are.
- Cook together or take it up a notch and make it a Cook off! Each of you pick a dish or a dessert and see who creates the best dish in one hour. Good luck!
Not everyone is artistic, but that's what makes this idea fun! Go to your local art store, pick up a canvas and paint. then go get some wine! Get comfortable, listen to your favourite music and drink. Let your imagination inspire you, then hang it on your wall, you will always look back to that day. Can't think of anything to paint? here are some ideas to try:
- Each other.
- Your next vacation.
- Purchase a paint by number kit and finish it together.
PAMPER EACH OTHER
Treat each other like kings and queens you are. Pampering your partner can bring you closer together. It may even heat things between you. Lay some candles and a few rose peddles. Enjoy these ideas together:
- Who doesn't like facials; cleanse and massage each other's face and end it with a face mask. You can listen to music, have deep conversations or play games while you wait.
- Run a bubble bath, listen to music or read.
- End the night with a nice, relaxing body massage. Take out your oils or creams and work those magic hands!
If you would like to have a nice fragrance in the room, Malin + Goetz created an amazing leather candle. Which is hand poured in Brooklyn with a natural clean wax blend that lasts about 60 hours. It has an elegance aroma of smooth leather, rustic wood notes and a soft well-worn vintage.
I hope this has sparked your imagination to create a unique experience. These suggestions can be used on any regular day or for a special occasion. Always remember to loosen up, have tons of fun, laugh a lot, and do it for love.
