Manscaping

What is manscaping, exactly? Manscaping is a witty term made out of the words man and landscaping. Waxing, shaving, plucking, and even laser hair removal are all ways used to remove hair from your body. The best part is that you can pick the amount of hair you would like to remove, whether it's a full groom or partial.
Yes, we’re going in deep today, because we know you will anyway, and we don't want you to hurt yourself, so fasten your seat belts gentleman. It's time to discuss how we should mow the lawn.
TO SHAVE OR NOT TO SHAVE
Men are aware that they need to take care of themselves in a variety of ways as our hygiene regimen evolves throughout time and let's face it, we need to keep it clean for everyone involved. Grooming can be stressful.  Before we begin, here are different ways of removing your fur.
    1. Waxing - This process removes the hair from its roots, but it can be painful. By removing the hair and its root, delivers , longer results. New hair can take up to two weeks, or even longer, to come back.
    2. Laser Hair Removal - This process requires you to visit an aesthetician for at least 5 sessions for your hair to fully be removed. The laser light destroys individual hair follicles and leaves your skin smooth for several weeks. Keep in mind it does cause some pain but it's quite bearable compared to waxing. You will also notice that when your hair grows back it will be less than what you started with.
    3. Clippers - As we all know, clippers are used to cut your hair or trim your beard. You can also use it for every part of your body. We do recommend having at least two different clippers, we don't want to use the same clipper on our private areas with the one you use for your face or head.
    4. Razors -  Can be used to remove any type of body hair. Keep in mind, if you would like to shave with a razor, it's best to do it after you trim your hair with clippers or even scissors for better and quicker results.
WHAT TO MANSCAPE
When it comes to grooming your body, you have to figure out how much hair you would want to remove or if you want to create a specific style for certain areas of your body. Whether it's hair on your chest, arms, back, legs and even your more sensitive areas. Here is a list of how to manscape and what you can use for certain body parts:
  1. Eyebrows - Most important feature that symbolizes your face, your eyebrows demand regular grooming. To groom your brows, you can trim them with a pair of scissors, or pluck them with a tweezer, do not overdo it, just remove any stray hairs. You can also visit an aesthetician to wax or thread them for you.
  2. Ears & Nose - As soon as you see your hair sticking out of your nose and ears, it's an indication that it's time to trim them. Easy and fast way to trim them would be If you use our Wahl Nose & Ear Trimmer, or you can wax and trim them with scissors. We advise not to pluck, it can lead to an infection.
  3. Chest, Back, Arms, Armpit & Legs - When it comes to grooming these areas, it's best to know how much you are going to remove or how you'd like it to be styled. Today, many manscapers go for a simple, neat trimmed look - and you can easily achieve this look using a clipper and guard to trim, like our Wahl Magic Clip. This unit is cordless, so you can easily take it into the shower to trim, avoiding a mess in your bathroom. (This unit is NOT waterproof, so make sure you don't turn the water on!) However, others prefer a clean shave; this is where you can trim your hairs (with either scissors or an electric trimmer) then shave with a razor, using a moisturizing shaving cream like Old Bond Taylor Shaving Cream. When it comes to your back, waxing can be the best solution to remove all the hairs. You can still trim it with a clipper, just be sure to have someone to help you out or visit a professional.
  4. "Down There" - Ok, now we have entered a sensitive territory, and the thought of hair maintenance can be quite overwhelming. Maintaining the hair in this region promotes good hygiene and prevents odours- it must be done! You can shave this region, but be warned- it is VERY tricky. The best tip we can share is to make sure you stretch the skin before you shave, rinse your razor often, and go slow. Although men have been know to shave, we don't recommend it. The easiest way to manscape this region is to use dedicated clippers to trim the hair down. You can use a cordless unit, hop in the shower, and trim everything down as short as you can get it (think 0.5 on the clippers).  By using clippers, you are less likely to hurt yourself. It's best to do this when you have some time, and you are not feeling rushed. It will take a little more time at first, but the more you do it, the faster you get at it.
AFTERMATH
Now that you're all groomed, you're  going to need to care for the skin and area. Depending on where you groomed & how, the aftercare can be different.
As a general rule of thumb, you are going to want to moisturize the area. When talking about "down there" applying a powder can make the area more comfortable, and keep it dry.
If you have opted to wax your eyebrow/ arms/ back/ etc with a professional, they will apply all the after care you need, and give you some pointer on what to do at home.
Manscaping can be tricky, but it does not have to be!
Getting rid of the hair is part of good hygiene, will make you feel more comfortable, reduce odours, discourage bacterial growth, and more. It's a necessary task!
Depending on the area:  get help, pick the right hair removal method you feel most comfortable with, and take your time!
