How to Trim a Long Beard

Is your beard getting out of control? Want to keep the length but you're having trouble managing it? Ready to tidy up your look? Well, we've got the answer to all your beard concerns! It's time for a beard trim! Not only is trimming your beard going to tidy it up, but like the hair on your head, trimming your beard also removes split ends, breakage, and promote healthy beard growth!

Here is our step-by-step guide on how to trim your long beard!

COMB
Start by combing your beard thoroughly to remove any tangles or knots. A wide-toothed comb is best for this step as it will help to gently detangle your beard without causing any breakage or damage to the hairs.

LENGTH & SHAPE
Next, decide on the length and shape you want for your beard. If you're not sure what style you want, you're also welcome to consult with a barber or do some research online to find inspiration. It's never a bad idea to see a barber because they'd be able to give you a personal recommendation on your beard style based on your face shape and hairstyle!

TRIM WITH SCISSORS
Once you have a clear idea of the look you want to achieve, it's time to start trimming! Use a pair of sharp scissors to carefully trim away any stray hairs that stick out or don't fit your desired shape. Be sure to hold the scissors vertically and use the tips to make precise cuts.

TRIMMERS
If you want to achieve a more precise trim or maintain a specific length, you may also want to consider using a beard trimmer. With all the different guard sizes, it'll be so much easier to maintain your beard to one, uniform length. Just be sure to follow the manufacturer's instructions when using any electric grooming tools.

THE LINE UP
Using trimmers is also a great way to lineup your beard on your cheeks and on your neck. Lining up your beard is a great way to emphasize the shape of your beard and face; it also makes for a cleaner look! And once you've gotten used to lining up your beard, you could also try using a razor or straight razor for a closer shave.

COMB AGAIN
After you have trimmed your beard, use a comb to evenly distribute the hair and check for any areas that may need more attention.

Finally, wash and moisturize your beard to keep it clean and healthy. Beard oil or Beard balm can help soften and nourish the hairs, while a beard wash will help remove any excess dirt or oil. Make sure you practice this step daily!

Trimming your long beard may take some time and patience, but the end result will be a well-groomed and stylish beard that you can be proud of! Just be sure to take your time and be careful while trimming to avoid accidentally cutting off too much.
